The Humber Spotlight

Hello! I hope this newsletter finds you all in the best of health and spirits.

It is with great pleasure that in this edition I can share news of our first full board meeting since our thrilling re-brand and proud recruitment of a fantastic array of business leaders as our new directors.

It was a landmark event, bringing together the brilliant minds that steer our top regional businesses, alongside civic leaders, to also guide our organisation, underlining our credentials as a truly collaborative catalyst for shaping the Humber region and promoting its distinctive strengths to the widest audience.

Perhaps the most inspiring aspect of this week’s opening meeting was the sense of unity and purpose that pervaded the discussion. Just as we had dared hope, our directors instantly came together, eager to continue making a positive impact on our region with their own organisations, and also to work collaboratively to create and champion the ‘place’ narrative that will shape and steer our activities. We are grateful to them and excited to embark on this journey together. We will, of course, engage and inform our treasured Bondholder community every step of the way.

In that spirit of collaboration and camaraderie, we are also thrilled to announce our upcoming networking event, for which we have a special guest speaker. Bookings are now open for the event, which is being held on 11th October at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Hull. You will find more details below.

In closing, I must take this opportunity to send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Mark Jones MBE, Hull City Council’s Director of Regeneration, and a passionate champion of the city. His untimely passing last weekend was a huge shock. RIP Mark – a dear friend of Future Humber and a real Hull legend.

Innovative Thinking

Date: Tuesday 24th October 2023

Time: 8.30am - 10.00am

Problem-solving and combatting challenges in the workplace requires a whole host of skills, but how often do you think creatively to find solutions?

The reality is that creativity in the workplace is not just relevant to artistic jobs. It is highly likely that we could all benefit from harnessing innovative thinking, as it is easy to get stuck in a rut of using longstanding beliefs and processes without questioning ‘why?’ and thinking about how things could be done differently. Using your imagination to break the norm and take new approaches could be a game-changer in becoming a more agile and inspired contributor or leader. This event will help inspire you to unlock your creativity, with relevant applications to your career, no matter your role or the industry in which you work.
